The Mercator One office and commercial building in Duisburg is to form a new entrance to the city. For the 100-m-long block with 11,000 m2 of floor space, Hadi Teherani Architects designed a clearly structured facade consisting of 90 % recycled aluminium panels. The wide aluminium frames were finished with fine-textured effect paint from the Duraflon coating system according to the architects’ wishes. The colour, gloss level and structure of the surface of the wet paint system can be individually adapted and implemented. In the case of Mercator One, the robust surface has an impressive feel and is guaranteed to require less maintenance. Graffiti cannot adhere to it, and it can withstand UV radiation and acid rain for decades according to the manufacturer. Duraflon was applied by HD Wahl, the specialist for aluminium component finishing on facades.
