Hotel Odeon is located in the heart of the Danish city of Odense, not far from the new Hans Christian Andersen Museum. The redesign of the 550 m² square by Danish architectural firm SWECO is part of Odense’s inner-city transformation into a pedestrian city. The surface design of the square with paving clinkers from Hagemeister reflects the materials traditionally used in the city and its surroundings. The zigzag pattern is formed by Hagemeister sandy-yellow Elba paving bricks and anthracite-colour Manchester bricks. The pattern on the surface changes direction, thereby subtly marking out a bike lane that runs through the square and also defining the pedestrian area.
