Cooking in the Casa Forest

Daluz Gonzalez Architects have designed an angular home for an art- and nature-loving family in Basel that blends harmoniously into its surroundings thanks to the earth-coloured exterior panels. Casa Forest’s materials are on the whole restrained: Walls and ceilings made of exposed concrete, simple but cleverly installed furniture made of oak, and clear white elements such as the doors and the sculptural kitchen unit all create lightness. The kitchen was neither to be separate nor stand in the middle, but instead connected with the living area. The worktops and the back wall of the kitchenette are made of Silestone by Cosentino in the Blanco Zeus Extreme colour. This material consists of 90 % hard minerals such as quartz and recycled glass. According to the manufacturer, it is hard-wearing, easy to clean and offers colour fastness and a glossy surface. For the production of Silestone, Cosentino uses 100 % renewable energy, 98 % recycled water and 100 % reused raw materials.
