BETA Office for Architecture and the City
Auguste van Oppen and Evert Klinkenberg launched their practice in 2015 in Amsterdam. In addition to classical building planning, they are also involved in master plans for urban districts as well as research projects, on topics such as how architecture can stimulate physical activity. Evert Klinkenberg studied architecture at ETH Zurich and worked for Herzog & de Meuron for several years. Auguste Oppen completed a master’s at TU Delft and worked initially as a partner in the architecture firm O + A. Current key issues for the two partners include integrated housing, participation and inclusiveness. These aspects can also play a role in smaller buildings, as seen in Beta’s multigenerational home in the north of Amsterdam.
