Music Box in Vienna by Heri&Salli

The Music Box with its 161 serviced apartments is to become a lively hotpot for creativity as well as stimulating and identity-fostering impulses.

Sonnwendviertel Ost

In urban planning terms the building is located in Vienna's new Sonnwendviertel Ost district, which forms an island between railway tracks and Helmut Zilk Park, thus ensuring ease of accessibility to public transport and proximity to green spaces for local recreation. The open space concept by Carla LO's complements these aspects with participatory green spaces and a stepped zone can be used by residents for open-air plays, outdoor movies and the like. 

The publicly oriented corner of the building features services, the concierge, culinary establishments and the Creative Lab. This open area provides access to the serviced apartments and twelve Grätzlhotel suites attached to the main volume along the promenade.

Room for creativity

Most of the creativity takes place on the first floor, where the Competence Centre of the Music School and an equipment hire service, a media library, and a music lab are located; the Competence Centre has studios for rehearsals, workshops and group tuition in combination with compact boxes for individual tuition and practice rooms. The basement provides further possibilities for musical development, whereby acoustic decoupling enables the possibility for rehearsal rooms that will not be a source of noise annoyance for the building's residents.

Residential offerings

Fully-equipped compact apartments with associated open-air spaces are located on the upper storeys. The outdoor areas are let into the façade in the form of large loggias that are clearly legible thanks to their colouring, and which serve the residents as open-air lounges and gathering spots. The rental period for the apartments is six months to two years and can be supplemented by fitness and wellness offerings during the booking period.
