In dialogue with the landscape
Twin Daycare Centres by Löser Lott

The linear structure of the surrounding fields and the small-scale nature of the residential development inspired Löser Lott Architekten to design two almost identical buildings, which differ only in their colour scheme: clay red in Besse and old green in Grifte.

Flatly sloping gable roofs
Slightly offset roofscapes create projections and recesses, differentiating the spatial volume. Three gently sloping gable roofs define the upper edge of the building. The facade design draws on regional building traditions, with the monochrome colour scheme and choice of materials echo the surrounding area's agricultural buildings. Loadbearing walls were constructed using a timber frame, which was then covered with a colour-coated trapezoidal steel shell. The projecting access balconies consisting of steel harmonise with the main roof clad in standing seam roofing. Grilled balustrades and horizontal lintels frame the outdoor spaces, emphasising the building's design unity.

Lively sequence of rooms
The interior spaces surprise with an almost playful sequence of rooms. The seven group rooms are not arranged in a strictly linear fashion, but are offset from one another. This creates small niches, retreat areas, and open zones that allow for flexible play and learning. Floor-to-ceiling windows open each room to the sun and green outdoor spaces. Functional rooms such as the kitchen and delivery area are located at the rear.

Flowing transitions
The principle of varied room sequences continues on the upper floor, where open lounge areas alternate with closed zones to create a seamless flow between play, learning, and creative projects. Special rooms for music, art and other activities enhance the educational experience. A children's café overlooking the forecourt provides a space for children and carers to enjoy social moments together. Skylights and round interior windows bring additional daylight into all areas, while materials such as birch wood, white plaster and light grey cast flooring create a warm and balanced atmosphere.

The buildings are designed to be barrier-free and feature publicly accessible playgrounds and spacious open areas that open up to the surrounding landscape, enabling children to experience nature.
