Níall McLaughlin
After studying architecture at University College in Dublin, Níall McLaughlin set up his practice in London in 1990. His work is distinguished by the close relationship between buildings and their surroundings in diverse projects ranging from cultural and educational buildings to housing. McLaughlin is known for using innovative materials and the quality of light in his buildings. In 2022, he won the Riba Stirling Prize for the library at Magdalene College in Cambridge, where brick and oak surfaces harmonize with the historic campus buildings and combine to create differentiated interiors.
