Global stage for architecture and society

The 2025/26 Chicago Architecture Biennial celebrates its tenth anniversary as North America's largest architecture festival. Taking place from 19 September 2025 to 28 February 2026 at the Chicago Cultural Centre and throughout the city, it will explore how architecture responds to social, ecological and cultural upheavals under the motto SHIFT: Architecture in Times of Radical Change.

Architecture Prize

The 2025 Nobel Prize in Architecture goes to Chinese architect Liu Jiakun. The award ceremony will take place on May 3 at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a building designed by Pritzker Prize winner Jean Nouvel.

Habitat for birds and mammals

High-bay warehouse made of natural materials

The clayey soil on the outskirts of Schwäbisch Gmünd prompted natural cosmetics manufacturer Weleda to use rammed earth for the base of its new high-bay warehouse. Other structures in and around the building are made entirely of wood.

Timber construction for communicative working

The timber construction braced with V-columns allows column-free rooms that can be flexibly divided according to the size of the start-up companies. The timber façade is displayed behind glass and becomes a landmark in the Neckaruferpark.
